The Spitfire restoration project – a step closer to reality

On Thursday evening 28 November 2019 the SAAF Museum Spitfire restoration project came a step closer to reality with the reveal of a 5.0 L Ford Mustang, the first in a series of ten cars, that will raise R750 000.00 to rebuild the last remaining South African Air Force Spitfire.

Janine van der Heever, a member of the SAGAMMA Special Interest Group of the Friends (South African Guild of Aviation, Military and Maritime Artists), has painted and constructed a very special ‘Spitfire clock’ which she has donated to the project. This will be auctioned with our other artistic donations. Thank you Janine!

Model Spitfire donated by Swartkop Scale Modellers

Neels Barnard of the Swartkop Scale Modellers recently handed over a large model Spitfire to the Spitfire Restoration Project, which he built for the Friends of the SAAF Museum. It will be used for fundraising for the Project on behalf of the SAAF Museum. Thank you to Neels for such a fantastic donation!
