The Museum has a long and distinguished relationship with the University of Pretoria. This relationship will be developed further, with the possibility of a research project being allocated to the final year Aeronautical Engineering students at the University of Pretoria.

SAAF Museum Projects are undertaken by the final year Engineering students at TUT. These projects form part of the students’ final year thesis.
The Vampire cockpit is to be transformed into a simulator. This is a ten year Project due to its complexity. The project is divided into ten phases. Additionally, two further Engineering projects are also under way.

The ASSA has provided immense support to the Spitfire Project. Aeronautical Engineers from ASSA now support and are involved in the Spitfire Project. These Engineers form the crucial core of the team for the reconstruction of the Spitfire. Members of ASSA, from other disciplines, have also joined the Project, thereby adding further skills to the Project, ranging from SHERQ to complimentary Engineering disciplines.

Aerosud Avaiation has been in the Aerospace Engineering and Manufacturing business since 1990, and is now located at a facility on the Eastern border of the Waterkloof Air Force Base. It has a workforce of 700 people involved in the design and manufacture of parts and assemblies for civil aviation products for OEM’s and Tier 1 customers such as Boeing, Airbus, Spirit Aerosystems, Safran for application on aircraft such as the Boeing 737, 777, and Airbus A320, A350, and A380. Their capabilities include vacuum forming, composite lay-up, sheet metal parts, machining, welded components, and complex assemblies.

Project Portfolio Office (PPO) helps organisations achieve greater project success by implementing and adopting a simple to use, cost effective, configurable yet enterprise scalable project portfolio management application to plan, manage, collaborate, execute and report on their projects, programmes and portfolios.
The Spitfire Restoration Project is using its proprietary project portfolio management software, PPO, to manage the project and provide the integration for the project management knowledge areas.

These world class brands comply with OEM requirements, keeping the warranty of the vehicle in tact when fitted by an approved technician.
We are incredibly grateful to Ford Performance Centre for their partnership on an amazing project. Through the Warriors of the Sky program, prospective customers can choose one of the listed South African airmen and their military aircraft as inspiration for their own unique Mustang. After this point, Performance Centre, based in Centurion, will carry out the full list of upgrades.
The first of these special iterations is the DBH RTR Spitfire Mustang, the first Mustang RTR Spec 5 widebody globally and shares a slice of provenance with Ace Capt. Bob Rogers. Rogers was assigned to 208 Squadron (RAF) in Egypt, where he flew Hurricanes and Spitfires in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Austria. By December 1943, he had been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and placed in command of 225 Squadron, RAF. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) and Distinguished Flying Cross (DSC) for his services.
