Ben Jonkers, an artist from Hillcrest in Kwazulu Natal contacted the Project about a beautiful picture which he had painted, depicting Spitfire 5518 AX-K. He kindly offered the painting as a gift to the Spitfire Restoration Project.
Ben’s generous donation also included a collection of prints, signed by Lt Col Knoesen, a past Commanding Officer of the SAAF Museum and one-time pilot of AX-K, and a pencil sketch of 5518’s restoration.
